I have learned so much about the nature of our current shortage since proposing this motion, Dr. Murray. I think your points are vitally important to the conversation about why we have such a horrid shortage right now. Could you please consider proposing a friendly amendment to incorporate this idea?
Specifically, you explained about:
"MD's complaints aren't going to be helped by more money if governments don't fix the structural problems that they have created. We have Conservative provincial premiers that are purposely sabotaging and underfunding our health care system so they can institute private for profit systems that will cost taxpayers many times more than what we are now paying. They are making no serious attempt to fix the problem.
Subsidizing medical education for MD's isn't going to fix the problem. The problem started 35 years ago when politicians learned that when there where fewer doctors they could save on healthcare spending. Class sizes were reduced and now we see the full effect of near-sighted short term thinking and the lack of planning.
I think Britain has similar problems with similar causes. Governments are actively sabotaging the health care system [not doctors], and increasing choke points and friction in the system."
This is a vitally important piece of the puzzle. What would you ideally like to see as the wording for such a motion? Please feel free to click on "propose amendment", top right, or just throw in some ideas here in this thread.
