G21-P046 Maximum Compensation | VGM-2 Amended Version
Submitter Name

Ratification Vote Results: Adopted
Proposal
This is the amended proposal adopted by GPC membership at the VGM-2.
The Green Party of Canada supports a Maximum Compensation policy, where the highest compensation within an organization is no more than ten times the lowest compensation in that organization.
Objective
This policy hopes to curb rampant wealth inequality by ensuring that no individual earns more than ten times more than someone else within their organization.
Benefit
The advancement of post-industrial capitalism exacerbates enormous wealth inequality, and presently there are no apparent efforts to cap the wealthiest end. Applying this policy ensures that the highest income earners will no longer hoard enormous wealth while also incentivizing them to support the lowest earners in their organization.
Supporting Comments from Submitter
The Green Party of England and Wales has had this in their policy book since 2010 (WR362).
Green Value(s)
Social Justice
Relation to Existing Policy
Add to current GPC policy.

This is a great way to reduce the economic disparity and to encourage companies to increase their minimum wages. The difference between companies' top and lowest paid workers have been growing and growing over the decades
