2023 Federal and Young Greens Council Elections
Electing the representatives of the Green Party of Canada's members
David Greenfield
"My name is Dave Greenfield and I am a candidate to become the Saskatchewan rep to the GPC Federal Council.
In my youth I was involved in an early chapter of the GPC in Saskatoon between the summer of 1984 and the fall of 1987 when the chapter petered out. During the next ten years, I was involved in a variety of peace, justice and environmental groups in my local community. Then in 1998-99 I helped found our provincial party, which was then called the New Green Alliance, now called the Saskatchewan Green Party. I was involved for about ten years, then took some time off to focus on involvement in grass roots non-partisan groups. I rejoined the Sask Green Party and the federal party in 2020 and have served in a variety of roles since that time.
I am inspired by what I call the great triad of peace, social justice and ecological well-being, and I am committed to all six of our core values.
My promise to Saskatchewan Greens, if I become the Sask rep to federal council is to be a communication vehicle between the federal council and the members in Saskatchewan. I plan to hold monthly Zoom/phone calls to keep members up to date on what the federal party is doing, and to hear any ideas and concerns that members in Saskatchewan may have.
Long live the earth and all her peoples and eco-systems."

Candidate Introduction
I first became involved with the local chapter of the Green Party for a few years in the 1980s. Then in 1998-99 I helped found our provincial Green Party, served as Vice President of the Provincial Party for 3 years and ran several times as a candidate both provincially and federally between 1999 and 2004. I also represented Saskatchewan on the GPC Federal Council between 2002 and 2005. I have always been motivated by 3 interwoven values of peace, social justice and ecological wellbeing, and I am committed to working for all 6 of the values in the global green charter. Over the past 35 years or so, in addition to my involvement with the greens I have also been involved with a variety of grassroots activist organization including Saskatchewan Eco Network, the Inter-church Uranium Committee, the Council of Canadians, the Sierra Club and Climate Justice Saskatoon.
In early 2020, when I learned that my long-time Naomi Hunter was running to become leader of the Saskatchewan Green Party, I rejoined the party both federally and provincially and have since run twice as candidate, once federally and once provincially.
