2023 Federal and Young Greens Council Elections
Electing the representatives of the Green Party of Canada's members
Didier Pilon
"At 20, I'm a dynamic and inspiring voice in the green movement. In 2021, I showed exemplary determination by standing as a candidate in my home riding of Abitibi-Baie-James-Nunavik-Eeyou. This experience reinforced my deep desire to make a difference within the party and in society at large. I'm part of the student community at Laval University in Quebec City, and I'm determined to create a strong, committed university wing for the party there. My commitment to the Green Party goes far beyond words.
Since joining the Party, I've been actively involved on many levels. My volunteer work, including phone calls in support of various Green candidates, testifies to my deep conviction in the party's ideals and my commitment to advancing our common cause. What's more, I come from a working-class background and hard-working parents, so I understand the challenges most young people face. Like many of my peers, I work for minimum wage while pursuing my studies. This strengthens my determination to defend workers' interests and promote a fairer society.
The environment and social justice are concretely linked. My current candidacy has a fundamental objective: to make the party more bilingual and more attractive to young Quebec voters. I recognize that many provincial progressives vote for the NDP, and I'm determined to set the Green Party apart by demonstrating our commitment to the environment, the most important issue of our time."

Candidate Introduction
My name is Didier Pilon, I'm 20 years old and I'm running for the position of representative of the Quebec wing of the Young Canadian Greens. I'm currently completing my studies in political science at Université Laval in Quebec City. In the last federal election, in 2021, I was a candidate in my home riding of Abitibi-Baie-James-Nunavik-Eeyou.
I've been a member of the Green Party of Canada since 2018, when I discovered it by researching the various parties on the web, in preparation for the following year's election.
Over the years, I've made calls and volunteered for many candidates before becoming one myself, both internally and externally. Locally, I raised awareness of the party in my small hometown of Chibougamau, when I lived there.
The environment has always been the most important issue for me. Indeed, I believe there is a concrete link between social justice and climate change. The least well-off people on the planet are the most affected by this phenomenon. We need to take action against the massive fossil fuel companies and reverse the neoliberal trend of politicians killing our magnificent planet. As someone with Attention Deficit Disorder and on the autism spectrum, I myself am aware of the discriminatory effects that the current economic system can have on marginalized groups in our society.
I'm optimistic about the future of the party, and I hope you are too. I urge you to consider me for this position. Thank you for your consideration!
