Continuous Motion Development
Online proposal development for the Green Party of Canada
Once a proposal has reached (2) Workshop, if a member disagrees with a proposal, they can share their strong opposition publicly. There are two types of formal Dissenting Opinions:
- strongly opposing the intent of a proposal, or,
- strongly opposing the wording of the proposal statement (operative clause).
A formal Dissenting Opinion should identify the Green Value at issue. Publishing a formal Dissenting Opinion allows a member to explain why they think the policy should be (RED) rejected in the all member vote or (YELLOW) sent back to workshop for more work. Formal Dissenting Opinions will be published with the policy motion on the (3) Vote tab. Once submitted, dissents are finalised and will be published as submitted. Formal Dissenting Opinions must adhere to the Safe Spaces Content Guidelines
If a policy motion receives 7 or more registered dissenting opinions, it will be sent to the next Annual General Meeting for discussion and a deciding vote.
