Source: {"body":{"en":"<h4>Submitter Name</h4><p>Valerie Powell</p><h4>Ratification Vote Results: Adopted</h4><p><br></p><h4>Proposal</h4><p><em>This is the amended proposal adopted by GPC membership&nbsp;at the VGM-2.</em></p><p>The GPC advocates the development and implementation of an evidence-based National Strategy for Older Adults to create an organized and concerted focus on older adults' well-being across all domains throughout the aging experience, with consistent standards across the nation.</p><h4>Objective</h4><p>To provide a policy framework for addressing seniors’ needs. Recent events show Canada is much in need of a coordinated and concerted focus on seniors' wellbeing throughout the ageing experience. Governments and international organizations create strategies and action plans to articulate a vision or steps in response to a major issue.</p><h4>Benefit</h4><p>This pandemic has taught us as a country that no one single organization or government can “fix” seniors’ issues. Only by truly working together in a multi-sectoral approach can we leverage the creativity of individuals, the compassion of caregivers, the power of communities, the expertise of professionals, and the impact of organizations.</p><h4>Supporting Comments from Submitter</h4><p>Even before the pandemic, many well-respected national organizations such as those listed below have identified the need for a national strategy for seniors. Les événements récents montrent que le Canada a grandement besoin d'une attention coordonnée et concertée au bien-être des aînés tout au long de l'expérience du vieillissement. Les gouvernements et les organisations internationales créent des stratégies et des plans d'action pour articuler une vision ou des mesures en réponse à un problème majeur.</p><h4>Avantage</h4><p>Cette pandémie nous a appris, en tant que pays, qu'aucune organisation ou gouvernement ne peut à elle seule « régler » les problèmes des personnes âgées. Ce n'est qu'en travaillant réellement ensemble dans une approche multisectorielle que nous pouvons tirer parti de la créativité des individus, de la compassion des soignants, du pouvoir des communautés, de l'expertise des professionnels et de l'impact des organisations.</p><h4>Commentaires d’appui de l’auteur.e</h4><p>Même avant la pandémie, de nombreuses organisations nationales très respectées, comme celles énumérées ci-dessous, ont identifié le besoin d'une stratégie nationale pour les aînés.
