2024 Federal and Young Greens Council Elections
Electing the representatives of the Green Party of Canada's members
Nick Poppell (he/him)
For over a decade, I have been a dedicated Green Party supporter, actively working to strengthen our movement at both the municipal and national levels. My leadership experience includes serving as Vice-Chair and Chair of the Green Party of Vancouver’s board of directors, where I gained critical insights into governance, member engagement, and strategic growth.
This year as Executive Director of the Green Party of Vancouver, I successfully led efforts that increased our monthly donor base by 40% and nearly doubled overall fundraising. I have a proven track record of listening to community needs and building strategies that reflect on-the-ground realities. I am eager to leverage this experience to assist Green Party of Canada EDAs in British Columbia in growing their capacities, particularly in the areas of fundraising, member engagement, and local organizing.
Beyond these roles, I have been an advisor on key Green Party campaigns, including Dr. Kuttner's 2020 leadership race and Bridget Burns’ 2019 East Vancouver federal election campaign. I also ran as a School Trustee candidate in the 2022 municipal election, garnering nearly 30,000 votes in Vancouver. These experiences have enriched my understanding of both local and national campaign dynamics, further strengthening my ability to support GPC members in their electoral efforts.
As a renter in Vancouver, I have also faced and successfully navigated three eviction attempts by bad-faith landlords. This personal journey has deepened my commitment to housing justice and led to my current role as Co-Chair of Vancouver's Renters Advisory Committee. In this capacity, I have helped develop motions to enhance renter protections, adding to my leadership experience in governance and advocacy.
With this unique blend of leadership, organizational growth, and campaign experience, I am excited to bring my expertise to the Federal Council.
