2020- 2022 Policy Process | Green Party of Canada
Where GPC membership collaborates to develop our policies
G21-E010 Responding to dual Crises unfolding in British Columbia
Ratification Vote Results: Adopted
Proposal
We the members of the Green Party of Canada direct the party to:
A) Stand in solidarity with Indigenous peoples across so-called Canada and condemn the RCMP invasion of Wet’suwet’en land as this condemnation is crucial for the process of reconciliation. In doing so, bring attention to the government’s ill-preparedness and misuse of national resources to protect corporate interests instead of helping communities experiencing climate related emergencies such as those currently happening in British Columbia and the Atlantic provinces.
and
B) Call on the government to learn from their ill-preparedness in BC and on the East Coast, and urgently invest in proper risk-management and emergency preparedness to mitigate and adapt to future emergencies in collaboration with Indigenous peoples, and immediately increase investment in the support of impacted communities.
