- The Federal government will streamline the loan process for First Nations infrastructure and modify
- the Indian Act to eliminate ISC oversight to address the basic needs of Indigenous people.
- Replace the text of the Indian Act: section 18(1) with the following: “18 (1) Subject to this Act,
- reserves are held by Her Majesty for the use and benefit of the respective bands for which they were
- set apart, and subject to this Act and to the terms of any treaty or surrender.”
- Replace the text of the Indian Act: section 57(c) with the following: “ (c) providing for the
- disposition of surrendered mines and surrendered minerals underlying lands in a reserve;”
- Repeal and replace the following sections of the Indian Act and replace them with identical text
- that puts the decisions for the use of Indigenous resources and land in the hands of Indigenous
- Chief and Council Members without requiring the consent of any Federal Ministers or other government
- agents: Section 18(2), 20(1), 20(2), 23, 24, 25, 51, 60, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 91, 93

G23-P026 La loi sur la souveraineté des Indiens
Le gouvernement fédéral rationalisera le processus de prêt pour les infrastructures des Premières Nations et modifiera la Loi sur les Indiens pour éliminer la surveillance de l'ISC afin de répondre aux besoins fondamentaux des populations autochtones.
Remplacer le texte de la Loi sur les Indiens : article 18(1) par ce qui suit : "18 (1) Sous réserve de la présente loi, les réserves sont détenues par Sa Majesté à l'usage et au profit des bandes respectives pour lesquelles elles ont été mises de côté, et sous réserve de la présente loi et des conditions de tout traité ou cession."
Remplacer le texte de la Loi sur les Indiens : article 57(c) par ce qui suit :
Remplacer le texte de la Loi sur les Indiens : article 57(c) par le texte suivant : " (c) prévoir la disposition des mines cédées et des minéraux cédés sous-jacents aux terres d'une réserve ; "
Abroger et remplacer les articles suivants de la Loi sur les Indiens et les remplacer par un texte identique qui place les décisions relatives à l'utilisation des ressources et des terres indigènes entre les mains des chefs et des membres du conseil indigènes sans exiger le consentement des ministres fédéraux ou d'autres agents du gouvernement : Section 18(2), 20(1), 20(2), 23, 24, 25, 51, 60, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 91, 93
