Between 1980 and 1987 the number of Canadian corporations not paying tax on their income rose from 62,619 to 93,405 and the untaxed profits from $10 billion to $27 billion. In 2018 the largest Canadian Corporations owed $11.3 billion in back taxes. Meanwhile in BC low income residents pay a minimum of 5.06% income tax on their earnings. I am therefore proposing that large corporations operating in Canada pay a minimum 5% tax on their income, the same as low income British Columbians.
