One possible addition could be to specify "acting in accordance with the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People". Unfortunately, there are a lot of GPC policies in the Green Book where it is painfully obvious that there was zero consultation & cooperation with Indigenous peoples. I feel that the offer of allyship needs to include a move to redress that imbalance already baked into our policy book.
Very important to redress the doctrine of discovery- also to act in accordance with the calls of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, but I find it problematic to term the GPC as an ally of indigenous people. It is too undefined and indigenous people are not a monolithic unit in terms of their spirituality, culture and goals. So I am not in favour of this motion.
