I'd support changing "doctors and nurses" to "health care workers". Midwives in Ontario are discriminated against by not getting an income during their equivalent of residency years, while nurses and doctors do get paid. PSWs need higher incomes and stable employment.
I agree wholeheartedly! However, on the other hand, there's something to be said about creating election-ready policies - doctor and nurse shortages are going to be a major 2025 election issue.
I think a separate policy proposal on midwives is required, however this is a provincial issue, not federal. PSW's absolutely, 100% need better and more stable working benefits! Again, also provincial.
Overall, federal jurisdiction is not in health, but the doctor and nurse shortage is pan-Canadian, and it behooves the federal level to create a task force to address it together, in concert with all stakeholders.
On the other hand, perhaps my motion should be massaged to include these health care spheres in the conversation for financial support post-sec?
