- Objective / Benefit
- This policy is drafted to bring us in line with our fellow Greens across the world to formally

- traditional identities of man and woman. Inspired by updates to the Green Party of England and
- Wales’ policy documentation and as a response to growing transphobia in Canada and elsewhere.
- If your proposal replaces an existing policy or policies, which one does it replace?
- This policy does not replace, but updates, an existing policy: G16-P011 - Advancing the Equality of
- LGBTQ+ Canadians
- List any supporting evidence for your proposal

Proposed amendment rejected as it changed the intent of proposal.
Sorry, but I really don’t think deleting the statement “ trans men are men; trans women are women" changes the intent of the proposal, and strongly urge you to delete it, as it makes the proposal much stronger, less provocative, and thereby more acceptable to the voting public.
Hey Shel and Kyle,
In my experience, keeping this line is has value, and I am good with keeping it in, Kyle. As part of our response to the countless targeted hate attack laws in the US and Canada, this gets to one of the key pieces, that politicians know someone's gender identity better than they know themselves.
I encourage you to consider carefully before using language, such as in your previous comment, about people being "not willing to overrule biological reality." If people might be hesitant to accept the line in question, the appropriate response, as far I am concerned, is to help provide education on why it IS needed, why the statement is true, what's at the root of the attacks against LGBTQ+ families, why gender identity is more complex than people might understand from certain contexts etc, instead of trying to amend to have it removed.
