Whereas, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT), and the Israeli human rights groups B’Tselem and Yesh Din have all stated that Israel is committing the crime of apartheid, which is the second worst crime against humanity (after genocide), and And whereas Israel’s policies such as forced evictions, home demolitions, and separation of Palestinian families across all territories under its control amount to apartheid, and whereas the Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in OPT stated that the political system of entrenched rule in the occupied Palestinian territory satisfied the prevailing evidentiary standard for the existence of apartheid.
And whereas Green Party leader Elizabeth May has acknowledged that what Israel is doing to Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian Territories is “much worse” than apartheid in South Africa.
And whereas Israel is committed gross human rights atrocities against the Palestinians of Gaza, requiring greens of conscience to speak out immediatly.
Be it resolved that this proposal will be decided by the Green Party of Canada general meeting of February 2024 and not be postponed to a policy development process.
And be it further resolved that the Green Party of Canada hereby acknowledges and declares Israel to be an apartheid state and calls on Israel to end its human rights abuses against the people of Palestine.
And be it further resolved that the Green Party of Canada endorses the findings of the International Court of Justice with respect to charges of genocide brought against Israel by South Africa.
And be it further resolved that the Green Party of Canada supports the restoration of full funding to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) that was cut by Canada and other nations January 26, 2024.

Horrible things are happening around the world; Rohingas, Eritrea, South Sudan, Niger, Uighurs, Ukraine....
The Canadian Green Party needs to focus on our own knitting, not empty statements about issues elsewhere.
Unfortunately the leaders of Palestinians are saying the same thing on their side “Kill the Jews”. This is a tragedy dividing populations all across the globe because the extremists, like Netanyahu are making the life of peace-loving Jews and peace-seeking Muslims into a terrifying hell in the communities where they live in Canada and elsewhere. We need our Green voice to be aligned with other Green voices for peace. Are all other Greens in the world saying the same thing?
No the Palestinians are not saying “kill the Jews” that is fake news and as you must know it is very easy to make fake videos.
The israeli government has made it pretty clear that it want to drive out the population of Gaza and make room for Israeli settlers. I agree that the situation in Palestine/Israel is one of apartheid. Canada and other Western Jurisdictions are supplying weapons to Israel. Is this not meddling ? I think GPC should describe what is obvious Sibylle Walke
